Jammers at the Farmer's Market

Saturdays are made for playing music! From May through September, at the Carl J. McEwen Historic Village in Mint Hill, North Carolina musicians gather at the Farmer's Market to jam on Old Time tunes. Starting around 9:30ish, and playing till Noon (or later if we're having too much fun!), one can find fiddles, banjos, guitars, and other acoustic instruments playing the Old Time instrumental dance tunes that have stood the test of time.

The Farmer's Market provides local farmers and vendors a place to offer their fresh produce and wares to the public under the trees at the Historic Village in downtown Mint Hill. Running from May through early September, rain or shine one can visit the restored Museum buildings and shop in the open air rows of the market! There is street side parking available, however the Museum does ask that we all keep the front parking lot on the corner for Daphne's Bakery clear for their customers. Here's a map link that will help you find this wonderful outdoor facility on the East side of Charlotte.

The Carl J. McEwen Historic Village is comprised of restored buildings that have been relocated to the museum site. Filled with period furnishings, and staffed by trained docents, the village is a window back in time to the city of Mint Hill a hundred years ago. Visitors are welcome to tour the buildings and interact with the staff. Learn more about this great community resource by visiting the website for the Carl J. McEwen Historic Village in Mint Hill!

Jam in the Schoolhouse

Jam in the Schoolhouse

During the cooler months from October to April, the Mint Hill Farmer's Market shuts down, but that doesn't stop the music! The jam drops down to once a month on the third Saturday, and meets inside the Ashcroft One Room Schoolhouse building on the site to keep the music playing. The time also shifts to 11 AM to 1 PM. Same great people and tunes, just a warmer environment.

And it gets better!

Also during the cooler months, the Carl J. McEwen Historic Village also hosts the monthly Charlotte Folk Society Slow Jam on the third Saturday of every month! Starting at 10 AM during the October thru April season, a one hour Slow Jam is held for folks just starting out on their instruments. This is the perfect place for new players to ease into the jamming community where the tunes are played at a gentle pace. Visit the Slow Jam web page at the Charlotte Folks Society web site to learn all exciting details! Jammers are then welcome to stay around for the regular Mint Hill Jam that follows.

Hope to see ya there!
