Old Friends Homecoming (featuring Wayne Erbsen)
October 1, 2022 @ 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM
$5Join us for a homecoming gathering of friends old and new at the Myers Park Baptist Church (1900 Selwyn Ave in Charlotte) on Saturday, October 1st from 2-6pm. The focus of this gathering is to allow time to visit and catch up with old friends and also get to know our newer members better. There will be light snacks, beverages, and informal jamming. Wayne Erbsen will be performing around 3:30pm and then joining the jam.
Please register below.

We will be outdoors on the Cornwell “lawn”, a lovely fenced in area next to the small parking lot for the Cornwell Center. Please bring chairs. There will be 2 or 3 tents set up for those who may need to avoid any Indian summer sunshine.
As far back as 1992, the Myers Park Baptist Church (MPB) has hosted numerous CFS holiday potlucks, anniversary concerts, board meetings and scholarship auditions to name a few. During the covid mayhem, meetings went virtual for awhile. So its really nice to be welcomed back with open arms, for such a significant milestone. This event will also serve as a warm up for the folk society’s official 40th anniversary concert on Nov. 12 at the Great Aunt Stella Center, so mark your calendar! Details to follow soon.
We’ve got one other request for those of you who haven’t had a chance to clear out your closet or attic of various CFS memorabilia. We will be glad to accept items for our recently established archive at UNCC. They can accept photos, videos (digital format), posters, or other memorabilia, recordings (digital only as well). And if you happen to have photo albums or an old scrapbook to share, we’ll have a table to display them for general perusal and stirring up fond memories.
If you’ve never been to this extensive church campus, you can go to their online map at https://myersparkbaptist.org/visit-us/ to get a better idea of what you’re looking for. There’s a good drop off option at the small Selwyn Ave parking area for off-loading chairs or instruments etc. Otherwise the main parking lot is on Roswell Ave, and folks can just stroll around the Cornwell Center to find the CFS check-in table. In case bad weather is predicted by that Wed or Thurs, then we can move our event inside to the Shalom Hall (accessible by elevator or stairs) in the Education Bldg where the CFS monthly board meetings have recently resumed thanks to MPB’s dedicated support of non-profit groups.
Really look forward to seeing you on Oct 1st!
